Welcome to Year 5!
As the children enter Year Five they are expected to build upon their prior learning and continue to expand their abilities so they are ready to meet the challenges ahead in Year Six. Alongside the Year Six children, we expect the Year Five children to mature into role models that the younger years can look up to.
In Year Five we aim and strive to offer our pupils a broad and balanced curriculum, linked to their learning and developing interests. We try our very best to excite, stimulate and engage all of our pupils within all lessons. It is our belief that all of our pupils should aim to be the best they can be in order to achieve their full potential.
We aim to work in partnership with all of our parents and offer weekly homework to consolidate the learning which is taking place in class. We encourage regular interactions between ourselves and you, our parents, so we can discuss your child’s progress and next steps in their learning.
Year 5 have PE on a Tuesday and outdoor learning on a Friday this term. Please ensure that your child has PE kit in school on both of these days, including outdoor kit.
Reading at Home
Please encourage your child to read as often as possible at home.
Your child should aim to change their book at least once a week.
Children often like to read their favourite book from home and this can also be recorded in the home reading record.
Here are some suggestions of how you can help you child with their reading.
